Well, I thought the bash timer was consiederably shorter but it's really not. He was in combo and i was bashing him quite well, but unable beat him off the patty with his master damage, so i decided to roll the dice. From now on i'll just sacrifice the moves and spam bash h.human, or try out a search thingajobber. He was batt tho, if it had worked man! if IT HAD WORKED

Edit: Ah Weir i see what you mean... If they clumsy theyll be sitting there for like 4ish rounds of pain. that's devious

Really, really, really. Whatever you do, DO NOT roll an unengaged bash on a stabber trying to stab you. It doesn't matter if the patty engages and helps you, you won't do enough to kill him (especially in combo) and any stab he gets off will probably kill you.

ALWAYS engage or search. I'd avoid searching unless in really special circumstances (if you can charge you can generally get a free charge off, because of clumsy lag). I prefer engaging, just engage and bash away without fear of being stabbing. And use h.human. Always. Getting stabbed is far worse than losing a move every now and then, you can spam diag h.human or something to check for hiddens.

Lastly, what Weir is saying is not that he'll eat four rounds of pain. What he's saying is that there are a couple things that can happen. As in this case, stab completes before your bash goes off. Boom dead. You land your bash, they eat a little pain, but you could have just engaged and a pulse later started the bash, losing you practically nothing while protecting you from that death in case #1. You can finish your bash and still engage, which is about the same as just spamming k h.human without the risk involved in being stabbed while running an unengaged bash on a stabber. In this case it's far better to spam. Or, the worse case, you miss your bash, disengage, and then you're sitting. In that case, unless they clumsy unluckily, you WILL die from that stab because of the damage multiplier when sitting. If it at all lands, you will be dead. And that's a sitting stab, and that's one of the reasons you don't roll bashes on chargers or stabbers really ever. It's far far too much of a risk, and unless you'll actually kill them it's far more risky to roll it than just to spam and start your timer over. If you land, you might get some damage in (he won't die from batt). If he lands, you're dead and that's that.

Recap: Never run unengaged bashes on stabbers, just engage with k h.human and then roll a bash. You waste a pulse spamming but don't get stabbed, which means you don't die like this. Never roll bashes on stabbers or chargers - I don't care how awesome your bashing is, that he's abs and you're clubs, not worth the risk unless you'll get a kill out of it that bash, and even then perhaps not worth it.

The thing is, if i had landed, he would be at least crit from 2 rounds of patty damage and then i could chase him. If i just spam, he just instantly flees and theres no hope of landing a bash. In this situation i decided i would just roll the dice, considering i was bashing him consistently. I know the risks involved, i just executed it poorly, in fact i just boggled it. Disengage stab is pretty rare/ish, and considering i was bashing him with solid consistency i decided to take the risk and mabey end the fight. That being said, i totally noobed it up and let him stab me, which sucks.

Sure, he flees. The thing is, if he flees, it just means he builds up fleelag. He will eventually fail flees, build up too much fleelag, something and eat a bash. Bad luck happens. Dunno what hps you were and if you could have taken it off patty but rolling an unengaged bash is just way too risky..especially at batt.

most of the risk is to you. at least skip the diagnose and just bash. granted you might hagg yourself, but it's no worse and maybe a bit better :-P

yeah i tried doing that for a while skittles... it never worked. i think i'd try it with a couple other guys and all of us rolling bashes, but even then.. you're three guys sitting there spamming bash. it's kind of ridiculous.

The River Stork
The solid wooden railing surrounding this sturdy vessel has small holes in
it to allow rainwater to run off the ship, and larger holes to place large
wooden sweeps in. A large square hatch in the front deck has a tarpaulin
covering it, undoubtedly to protect the cargo in the hold below. Ropes have
been neatly coiled on the deck and the ship looks in tidy repair. A weather
worn ships log lies open nearby, its pages flapping in the breeze.
